Yes - SmartRentOnline's team has years of experience in developing secure eCommerce services. SmartRentOnline adheres to security best practices and PCI compliance framework. SmartRentOnline uses the same levels of physical and encryption security that banks do to protect the data.

Who pays the transaction fee?

SmartRentOnline allows you to pick from one of the following three options:

  1. Landlord pays the transaction fees
  2. Tenant pays the transaction fees
  3. Landlord and tenant each pay 50% of the transaction fees

What are the details of the pricing?

For each rent payment transaction, there is a fee of $2.00. For most cases, this would be the only fee.

How does it work? How do I pay rent online?

You will be able to set up your bank account from which they can pay rent. SmartRentOnline processes fund transfer through ACH transactions.

Does my landlord have to sign up with SmartRentOnline?

Yes. Here's how you and your landlord will link up in SmartRentOnline.

  1. Your landlord signs up at
  2. Landlord sets up the property in SmartRentOnline and then lets you know what your Property ID is
  3. You will use this Property ID to add to your account
  4. Landlord will verify that you have properly linked to the right property and approve the request
  5. You are now linked and can start paying rent online!

Can I set up auto payment?

Yes. You can also set up your notification so that you receive an email when the rent is successfully sent.

Can I pay with my credit card?

No. SmartRentOnline currently does not offer the ability to pay with your credit card. Credit card payment process normally incurs higher transaction fees, which may diminish the advantage of using a credit card (such as accumulating reward points). If you think we should offer this feature, please let us know.
